When I was a child my grandfather Guido often told me that he had lived and worked in New York, for a period, with his brother
and, while he spoke , I could distinctly felt bitterness and regret in his words.
But never had explained to me why any information about his brother was lost. Growing up I 've always wondered what had become of
my grandfather's brother and his descendants , but I had no chance to investigate.
During the last years I had the opportunity to travel through United States and, finding myself in New York, I was reminded about that old story
and I tried to access documents stored at Ellis Island to find a trace of the passing of my ancestors: hurricane Sandy has upset my plans.
Recently, however, I discovered that Ellis Island's immigration records were also available online and I started from there my research, whose
ultimate goal is the reconstruction of the genealogy of Raffaele (Ralph) Conti's family, who settled permanently in the United States since 1904.
I'd like to be able to contact his offspring , to exchange informations, pictures, memories with them.
Therefore, I'd like to be able to recover what fate and the incongruity of life has taken off to Guido and Raphael, and return it to their memory .
